Legitimate work

It’s now a well established fact that disgraced former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat – dubbed the “Artful Dodger” and awarded the 2019 PERSON OF THE YEAR IN ORGANIZED CRIME AND CORRUPTION – never had a roadmap for Malta but a retirement plan for himself.

The Times of Malta produced an excellent diagrammatic summary of some of Joseph Muscat’s scandalous consultancy deals.

From the Times of Malta Sun May 28th “Joseph Muscat got €11,800 monthly contract months after Dragonara casino deal`”

If someone can’t understand the implications of an ex-Prime Minister being awarded lucrative consultancies by companies that were given controversial concessions worth millions during his tenure, then he or she is part of the problem.

Add to that an unprecedented severance package.

In all this, what stands out is the inaction of the Attorney General and the Police Commissioner. Corruption is a crime. Trading in influence is a crime.

But when all the institutions have been captured, silenced, emasculated, impunity reigns supreme.

Malta is truly in a dire state. Democracy is being eroded, the Rule of Law dismantled, the Justice system broken and toothless. It’s up to us alone to change this. The road back is long and arduous, but if we fail to recapture it we are doomed; the only way is down.

The time to stand up and be counted is yesterday.
